How our staff can help

We want to ensure everyone dining with us has a safe experience. There are several options available for those with food allergies or other dietary requests. Our registered dietitian can help you with food allergies, navigating the market place, making a nutritious plate, and other nutrition-related questions. Our team works to assist those with special dietary needs in a variety of ways:

All food and menu items are clearly labeled with icons that state whether an item contains gluten and/or the following allergens: milk, eggs, fish, wheat, soy, shellfish, peanuts, sesame and tree nuts.

Dairy-free milk options are available for those students who are lactose intolerant, have a milk allergy, or have a food preference.

There are clearly labeled vegetarian and vegan options available throughout our market places.

Each market place location has a chef that will prepare your meals in a controlled environment to reduce the risk of cross-contact. Additionally, the Thrive station in Burge Market Place prepares plates free from the top nine allergens.

Each all-you-care-to-eat market place has a designated gluten-free refrigerator in the serving area where individually packaged gluten-free items are stored, including bread, buns, bagels, cookies, and other goodies. We also have gluten-free noodles, chicken tenders, and pizza available upon request.

Our full-time staff, student leads, and student managers are trained and certified regarding food allergies, celiac disease, and food intolerances/sensitivities through AllerTrain.

Students can make requests at made-to-order stations in our market places, so that proper procedures can be used to ensure safe cooking for that individual.

If your allergies are not included on sign labels, our dietitian will analyze the menu for you.

Please let one of our staff know if you are concerned about cross-contact at your dining table and we will clean the area in an attempt to remove allergen residue that may have been left.

Students may add a refrigerator to their room for insulin supplies or other medications as an approved medical accommodation.

For those students who have dietary needs beyond the top nine allergens or gluten intolerance, our dining leadership is available to work on a customized solution.
