Do you have a food allergy and are wondering what you can and cannot eat in the market places?
In the fall of 2018, University Dining opened Thrive, the first allergy free station located in Burge Market Place. This station is void of gluten plus the top eight food allergies (fish, shellfish, egg, wheat, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, and milk). Some of the many menu items include, pancakes, wings, nachos, sandwiches, etc. All foods in this station are prepared in a separate kitchen to avoid cross-contact.
The school year is approaching, so beat the rush and begin prepping for fall. As a student dining employee, you can start working by moving in on August 11 with VIP status and have all early move in fees waived. Not living on campus? No problem. You too can beat the rush and begin prepping for fall by working prior to the start of the fall semester.
Whole Grain Sampling Day is held annually on the last Wednesday of March. Which means on March 28th you can expect to see some delicious offerings in your closest Market Place. Initiated by the Whole Grains Council, it is a great opportunity for individuals to explore the many different whole grains that can be easily included in your daily diet. These foods can provide an excellent addition of key nutrients, such as antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
