Hillcrest, Burge and Catlett Market Places serve over 10,000 meals each day to students and guests. Associates employed in the Market Places perform a variety of tasks including cooking, attending to the dining rooms, cashiering, restocking food, and washing dishes. These two facilities employ the most students within University Housing & Dining, so you can meet a lot of people and work a flexible schedule. Also, our student staff can enjoy their breaks from class and go home as the market places are not open during academic break periods.
Our retail division includes several different locations across campus that provide food, beverages and snacks to both University employees and students. East side locations include the Fire Up Late Night Grill, IMU River Room Cafe, Union Station (IMU), Pat’s Diner in the Pappajohn Business Building, Food for Thought in the Main Library, Street Hawk Food Truck and Power Café in the CRWC. West side locations include the Filling Station in the Dental Science Building, EMRB Café in the Eckstein Medical Research Building, Black's Gold Grill in Petersen Residence Hall and Court Café in the Law Building.
We also have four different C-Stores located in Hillcrest, IMU, Mayflower and Clinton St Market in Burge.
We are a catering service for the entire University of Iowa campus and surrounding area. Some of the locations we cater to are; IMU, Kinnick Stadium, Carver Hawkeye Arena, MERF, Levitt and private homes. Events catered include weddings, university department events, holiday parties, Dance Marathon, private parties and summer orientations. Our student staff consists of waiters, bartenders and delivery drivers. There is also room for advancement in catering as we promote from within for our Catering Lead Associate and Catering Manager positions
This important part of University Dining provides culinary and operational support to our other areas. Positions here include delivery drivers who deliver to our retail locations, storeroom workers in the IMU, bakers in our central bakery, food service staff in the IMU and production staff to make salads and sandwiches in cold food production at Burge Hall.
